Learning From Afar

Moving into August, America faces the sixth month of shelter-in-place. In March, when distance-learning first started, the teaching community had little time to adapt to the sudden changes. They had to face many obstacles and struggles in light of the new learning-through-a-screen reality courtesy of the virus. Educators became learners, trying to figure out how best to use the technology to teach their students from a distance.

To find out what remote learning and teaching was like for the community, the Silicon Valley Community United (SVCU) Youth Group (now BAYouth) interviewed educators, parents, and students on their reflections of the past few months. Our mission is to inform the general public with factual information, as well as cover a diverse range of perspectives.
