7 Perfect Family Activities for Thanksgiving

Share

It’s almost Thanksgiving and here are 7 perfect family activities for Thanksgiving! We are excited for turkey and pumpkin pie with family and friends, but we also want to mix things up a bit this year to soak up the spirit of giving thanks. Here are some fun ideas for you and your family to enjoy for Thanksgiving.

Get Active

Sign up for a Turkey Trot 5K Thanksgiving morning – my family does this every year and we love it! You can also play touch football, go on a fall hike in the afternoon, have a dance off, or sneak in an early morning walk.

Just for Fun

If you have little kids coming, have a Mini Pumpkin Hunt – think Easter egg hunt, but with mini pumpkins. If you love pictures, make a Thanksgiving photo booth with props – Free download here.

Create a Family Tree

For those who love to focus on legacy and roots, research your family tree and create or fill in a family tree with your kids and family members.

Create a Family Cookbook

I know there’s Pinterest, but sometimes it’s nice to be able to make your Grandma’s recipes. Ask your guests to bring their favorite recipe (holiday or not). Collect the recipes, take some photos and make a family cookbook to give as Christmas gifts.

Give Back

Volunteer at your local soup kitchen, go through clothing and items to donate to a homeless shelter, shop for an Operation Christmas Child Shoebox or purchase an Angel Tree gift.

Let’s Play!

After eating, have a board game tournament! Or make your own game like Thanksgiving Bingo and Scavenger Hunt for the kids, Thanksgiving Pictionary, and my favorite, Charades.

Give Thanks

Make Thankful Pumpkins! This is great if you want an easy centerpiece and simple activity for people. Or create a Thanksgiving Tree – I love Ann Voskamp’s version here.

What’s your favorite Thanksgiving tradition or activity?
