Biblical Teachings on Premarital Sex (cont.)
In summary, absolutely no orthodox Christian group or teaching in history has held the view that sex outside the marriage covenant is acceptable to God. Only the most immature and untaught believer could think that. And if he were a true believer, he would repent immediately when reading those verses and not try to justify the sin in any way.
True believers conduct themselves in purity. The standard for all Christians? We shouldn’t even mention “a hint” of sexual immorality, let alone act on it!
But sexual immorality and all impurity or covetousness must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints. Let there be no filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, which are out of place, but instead let there be thanksgiving. For you may be sure of this, that everyone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous (that is, an idolater), has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. Ephesians 5:3-5
On the other hand, sex in marriage is a glorious gift of God. A husband and wife are to enjoy it within the bounds of an unbreakable covenant. In other words, after they have made marriage vows publicly and had them legally ratified. Sex is not a sign of so-called commitment and love. It’s a reward of actual legal and covenantal commitment and love.
